Local Loop

A Local Loop is a physical connection from the end user site to a providers point of presence (POP). The Local Loop is delivered in a number of ways depending on the type of provider. Local Loops can be copper, fiber, coax, or wireless, and installed to the demarcation point (Demarc). In most cases, the Local Loop is installed by the local telephone company (ILEC), but can be installed by CLEC’s, Fiber Providers, or other 3rd party providers. Local Loops are also known as the CircuitSubscriber Line, or Physical Link.
