Ethernet Private Line
An Ethernet Private Line (EPL) gives two locations a dedicated Layer 2 Ethernet connection across a service provider’s network. Ethernet frames entering at one endpoint are transported to the corresponding endpoint, creating a private path between the two sites.
EPL is often selected for data center connectivity, large data transfers, disaster recovery, storage replication, and communications between offices that require predictable bandwidth and low latency.
Ethernet Private Line is also known as EPL, Ethernet private circuit, E-Line, or point-to-point Ethernet.
