IP Transit
An IP Transit service is a type of internet connection that provides a company with access to the internet by routing internet traffic from one network to another. IP Transit services are provided by an internet service provider (ISP) and involves the provider connecting the customer’s network to the wider internet through its own network infrastructure. The customer pays the service provider for a certain amount of internet bandwidth, which the provider delivers to the customer’s network through a dedicated connection. This dedicated connection provides the customer with a direct connection to the internet, allowing the customer to transmit and receive internet traffic (transit) with other networks on the internet. These services are used by organizations that require very high-speed internet connectivity for their day-to-day operations, such as telecom providers, data centers, and ISPs. Internet transit services allow organizations to bypass the need to build their own internet connectivity infrastructure. IP Transit is also known as Internet Transit Service, Wholesale Bandwidth Service, Internet Interconnect, or Wholesale Internet Access.
