Meet Me Room

A Meet Me Room (MMR) is a centralized location or meet point within a data center or colocation facility. This is where telecommunications carriers and service providers can connect their network equipment and exchange data traffic with each other and data center customers. In a MMR, providers can establish network interconnections with one another (peering) at a centralized point. This allows them to exchange traffic more efficiently and cost-effectively than directly connecting with every other provider. Often this is accomplished through the use of patch panels or switches enabling connections between different providers. Data center meet me rooms are important for the Internet and other communication services to function efficiently. A Meet Me Room in a data center is also known as a MMR, Peering PointInterconnection Point, Meet Point, or Network Exchange Point.
